I’ve heard so many amazing things about Lucy Score’s books that I knew it was long past the time I dive in. When I saw the summary of this book and saw the adorable dog on the cover, I knew I needed to make it my first Score read.
Maggie loves flipping houses and she’s made a successful Youtube career out of it as she travels America one flip after another. Always on the move and onto the next adventure, she has no plans of slowing down or stopping, even if her business partner keeps hinting at needing more downtime. Why slow down momentum when they’re having so much fun…right?
Having grown up in a blended, sometimes chaotic, family Silas loves being surrounded by the ones he loves in their small town of Kinship. When there’s news that someone’s bought up the old Campbell house, aka a part of Kinship history, Sy wants, no needs, to be part of the team. Along with his trusty sidekick, service dog drop-out Kevin, he hopes to put on the charm and not only land the landscaping contract but also a place in Maggie’s heart.
From the moment they meet Sy and Maggie are instantly attracted to one another. Maggie wouldn’t be opposed to a short-term arrangement but not if Sy can’t stop looking at her like he’s seeing the start of forever. The more they work together the faster Sy starts breaking down Maggie’s long-built walls. How long can someone, who loves to keep moving, resist the attraction they have for someone who believes the universe is sending signs they belong together?
From the very first chapter, I was grinning ear to ear and couldn’t wait to see what steps Sy took to show Maggie that it doesn’t have to be scary to put down the lists and timetables every now and again. The meet-cute is, I want to say, one of the best I’ve ever read. It had me giggling, laughing, and feeling the embarrassment that never crossed Sy’s mind to feel.
From the very start, I loved and wanted love for, Maggie. For years Maggie has masked her feelings so well that even she believed the lies. Watching Sy try to understand Maggie while also pushing her when needed had me cheering for that HEA. Hands down Maggie and Sy are one of my favorite romance couples ever. I’m actually a little butthurt that Lucy tied the endings up so well…I’d love any excuse to re-visit Kinship and see how everyone doing.
This book seamlessly weaves so many of my favorite tropes into it without feeling forced. Not only do we get a spicy romance between opposites but we also get a small-town mystery, found family, and so much more.
I can’t wait until this book is released so you can all experience this swoon-worthy romance! Get ready to giggle, sigh, and have a permanent smile on your face.💜
