Heathens series by: Amanda Richardson

He’s almost a priest, and I guess even holy men can fall…

Lily Damewood is trying (and failing) to claw her way out of her dark memories. Her weekly visit to Notre Dame Cathedral in Paris is supposed to be a way to help her move forward, even though she’s far from the praying type. She catches the eye of Salem Tempest, a seminary student at Notre Dame.

When an unlikely friendship forms between them—followed by a white hot attraction they desperately try to ignore—a revelation shakes them both to their core. Lily and Salem soon find themselves connected in powerful and unexpected ways.

Turns out, Lily isn’t the only heathen, and Salem is just the right person to stoke the fire within her, despite his sacred vow of celibacy… “

Potential Triggers…

  • Sex trafficking [including kidnapping, forced drug addiction, sexual assault and rape]
  • Death of a parent [included one page deathbed conversation scene]

I’ve been following Amanda for a while on Tiktok and have seen a few videos she’s done on her Heathens series…and knew I needed to get my hands on this book. Lucky for me someone bought it for me for my birthday! When I first started this book I figured I’d read a few chapters here and there…and it would take me a few days to finish. I DEVOURED IT in a day.

A lot of the Tiktok’s I’ve seen about this book, other than the authors, just talked about it being spicy…as if it was spice-driven when in fact it’s this amazing story that also has a slow burn romance. From the start, I was invested and the added attraction between the two characters just added to the already amazing story.

Lillith and Salem are both beautiful and somewhat broken humans…and I love them both so much! They’re able to connect to each other on a level they’ve never connected with anyone before. They both feel like kindred spirits from the beginning and form an amazing friendship before they explore their attraction to each other. The slow burn as they get to know one another and acknowledge their feelings…once they give into that mutual attraction…freaking fireworks!

I just finished the book and I’m deeply in my feels…I need to get my hands on Monsters.

In the beginning of the book Amanda lists a playlist…I couldn’t find a pre-made version on Spotify so I compiled it myself. The only song that is different is “House of the Rising Sun” because I couldn’t find a Rolling Stones version so I just put in The Animals original version. I’m tempted to switch out the Marilyn Manson version of “Tainted Love” since I don’t support him anymore but I need to find a good version that’s also dark sounding…

Published by Noelle Loves Books

Growing up, Japanese and Indigenous, it was hard to find books that showcased stories and worlds that accurately portrayed Noelle’s experiences. Fantasy quickly became her main love, as you could really be anyone, anywhere. As the years went on, and technology grew, Noelle was finally able to see more stories and authors that looked and felt like her. Noelle is open to all genre’s though she can mostly be found reading own voice, fantasy, and romance. Ratings: 5 Stars: Completely blew me away 4 Stars: Loved the story but didn't feel completely blown away by it 3 Stars: Liked the overall concept of the story but either had poor execution, had a lot of plot holes, or was written poorly 2 Stars: I struggled to understand the plot, poorly written, or just had really unlikeable characters along with a poor writing 1 Star: Horribly written, major plot holes, or extremely unlikeable characters and plots.
